Basem M. Younis

Co-Managing Partner

Basem Younis is a Founding and Co-Managing Partner of Younis Law, PLLC. Mr. Younis represents clients in complex civil, commercial, and real property disputes, with a particular focus on shareholder oppression actions, breach of contract litigation, and business torts. He is known for his strategic, results-driven advocacy and for securing significant outcomes in high-stakes litigation.


Mr. Younis has led litigation strategies in shareholder oppression matters resulting in more than $25 million in settlement value. He manages an active docket of corporate litigation matters and regularly advises clients on corporate governance issues, including director and officer responsibilities, shareholder agreements, and statutory compliance.


In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Younis maintains a robust transactional practice representing clients across a wide range of industries. He advises businesses, investors, and corporate leaders on mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, governance, due diligence, and the negotiation and preparation of complex transaction documents. His experience spans emerging companies, private equity, commercial real estate, and multi-state operating businesses.


Mr. Younis has developed particular expertise in the cannabis industry, where he has advised on over $30 million in cannabis-related transactions, including license acquisitions, governance matters, restructurings, and asset purchases. His long-term strategic counsel has supported the growth of a multi-state cannabis enterprise from its startup phase to achieving a valuation exceeding $27 million.


Before co-founding Younis Law, Mr. Younis practiced in the business and real property litigation division of Hammoud and Dakhlallah Law Group, where he gained extensive experience handling sophisticated commercial disputes and real estate matters.


Mr. Younis earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Wayne State University in 2021. During law school, he served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable David J. Allen of the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan.


Mr. Younis also serves on the Board of the Detroit Bar Association – Barristers Section, where he contributes to advancing professional development, community engagement, and leadership opportunities for young attorneys across Metro Detroit. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in its 2026 “Ones to Watch” list for excellence in litigation, reflecting his skill, dedication, and strong record of results.
