Maya Younis is a passionate advocate with a client-centric approach to law. With extensive experience in the courts, Maya brings a deep understanding of the legal system to her private practice. As a Judicial Attorney to the Honorable Yvonna C. Abraham in the Family Law Division of the Third Circuit Court, she worked directly with judges on a variety of family law cases, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in how cases are adjudicated. Maya also served as a clerk to the Honorable Jacob James Cunningham of the Oakland County Circuit Court, where she assisted in family, criminal, and civil cases, further broadening her legal expertise.
Maya is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she served as Executive Vice President of the Student Bar Association and President of the Women’s Law Caucus. She gained practical experience representing clients in the Family Law Clinic and further developed her legal skills clerking for Judge Arthur J. Tarnow at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and working at the Miller Law Firm. Maya also contributed her legal research and writing to Street Democracy, a Detroit-based nonprofit addressing systemic poverty issues. Additionally, she played a key role in drafting a high-impact class action complaint involving Title IX sex discrimination and RICO claims, as well as conducting legal research for Title IX sexual assault and harassment cases at universities.
